What is TriCaster™?

A: TriCaster is a portable live production appliance that is easy to use, affordable and lets you live stream, broadcast or project a network style show. TriCaster provides multi-camera switching, virtual sets (on most models), integrated DDR’s, titling, video effects and audio mixing. There are several models of TriCaster, there is one perfect for your live production needs.

How much is TriCaster™?

A: There is a TriCaster to meet your production needs and budget.

Are there accessories that work with TriCaster?

A: Yes, there are a number of TriCaster accessories that allow you to expand your production team and spread the live production responsibilities among several people.

LiveControl™ LC-11 and TriCaster VM™, are switching surfaces that provide button touch control with T-bar to activate the functions of TriCaster.

TimeWarp™ connected to the TriCaster provides slow motion replay.

DataLink™ is a plug-in that dynamically updates titles and overlays from external text feeds. With DataLink, any Title Template can access data across the network and, in real-time, display scores, times, prices or any other rapidly-changing information on screen.

Graphics Packs are easy-to-use graphic designs with a wide array of individual templates for each design

LiveSet™ Pack Volume 1 is a series of five network inspired virtual sets that provide a variety of new options including double box effects with embedded virtual sets.

LiveText™ is remote titling and graphics software which runs independently on your laptop or other computer that communicates directly with TriCaster during a live production.

What sources does TriCaster support?

What does TriCaster™ output?

A: TriCaster allows output of the following: (output options vary based upon model)

  • SDI, component, composite, Y/C video and alpha channel
  • XGA computer graphics for projector or LCD displays
  • Flash or Windows Media live streams
  • Archive Flash and Windows Media

Does TriCaster support the PAL video standard?

A: Yes. TriCaster is sold internationally as a multi-standard PAL/NTSC device and in North America in NTSC.

Can a webcam be used an as input to TriCaster?

A: TriCaster requires full resolution video therefore does not support the input of USB-based webcams.

May I open the TriCaster case to work on the system myself?

A: Opening the TriCaster case voids the warranty. NewTek recommends that all TriCaster service be handled by NewTek.

Who provides TriCaster technical support?

A: NewTek recommends you first contact your local NewTek reseller to report any issues. The reseller may be able to assist you. You may also contact NewTek technical support by e-mailing tech@newtek.com or calling 210-341-8444.

Will there be software upgrades for TriCaster?

A: Yes, there are two types of software upgrades for TriCaster. NewTek provides occasional free updates for TriCaster as Web downloads. To assure that you are running the latest version of the software, navigate to the TriCaster Admin Panel on your system and check for updates.

There are also paid TriCaster software upgrades that add additional features and benefits. In order to be notified when upgrades are available, make sure you register your TriCaster and sign up to receive email communication from NewTek.

May I install other programs on TriCaster™?

A: Although the Operating System can be accessed from the Admin Mode, NewTek discourages installation of additional software on TriCaster as it may degrade the performance of the system.

Are there TriCaster models that have more storage and memory?

A: Yes, there are several options. TriCaster internal drives provide 10 to 20 hours of storage. Recording to external USB or FireWire drives provides limitless additional storage and back up. .
